Hellfire Pass Museum in Kanchanaburi Named Top Museum in Thailand and Fifth in Asia, According to Millions of Reviews and Opinions from TripAdvisor Travellers TripAdvisor™, the world’s largest travel site*, today announced its Travellers’ Choice™ awards for Museums around the globe. The top 25 in the world and dedicated lists for Asia, Europe, South America, South Pacific, the U.K., the U.S. and Thailand were identified. “Some of the world’s most significant cultural institutions are represented within the Travellers’ Choice Museums thanks to the feedback shared by millions of travellers around the world,” said Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor. “Featuring some of the world’s finest art, scientific discoveries and historical events, these world-class attractions offer both educational and enriching experiences.” Travellers’ Choice awards honour top travel spots worldwide based on the millions of valuable reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travellers. Award winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews for museums worldwide, gathered over a 12-month period. Hellfire Pass Museum in Kanchanaburi was named the top museum in Thailand and also made it to the Asia list, coming in at 5th place. “Overall, this is a highly recommended stop for anyone wanting to learn more about the death railway and to see up close the hardships that were faced by the (prisoners of war) building the track,” noted a TripAdvisor reviewer. Out of the ten museums recognised in Thailand, five are located in Bangkok, including Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), Erawan Museum, Siriraj Medical Museum, Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles and Suan Pakkad Palace Museum, which placed second, fourth, seventh, eighth and tenth respectively.
