Thailand’s Most Charming Destinations Revealed


          After eight weeks and nearly 10,000 votes, Skyscanner, the leading global travel search engine, has announced the most popular and charming destinations across the Kingdom as voted by avid travel lovers across Thailand. The vote is part of Skyscanner’s Charming Land of Smiles campaign, an effort to celebrate the wonderful travel destinations Thailand has to offer.

And the winners are:
          · Most Fascinating Natural Attraction : Lipe Island
          · Most Fascinating Historical Attraction : Sukhothai Historical Park
          · Most Fascinating Cultural Attraction : Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival
          · Most Fascinating Recreational Attraction : Chiang Mai Walking Street Market; and
          · Most Fascinating Province : Chiang Mai

          Speaking at the awards presentation at the “Charming Land of Smiles” event at Siam Discovery today, Ms. Grace Pobpabha Areerat, Skyscanner’s Marketing Manager -Thailand, said, “With this exciting online campaign, we aimed to encourage everyone to share their experiences and help inspire each other to explore the country we are so proud of and bring back smiles to the faces of people who love to travel.”
          “It’s clear from the excellent response and feedback we had during the competition, from across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and popular travel and lifestyle blogs, that Thai people are very passionate about our unique travel destinations and want to share with the world what, in their opinion, are our most treasured and charming tourism highlights,” Ms. Grace added. 
          The “Charming Land of Smiles” campaign featured a series of articles written by Thailand’s leading travel bloggers and invited fellow travel enthusiasts to vote for their favourite destinations across the country. Each article featured fascinating attractions to inspire travellers to explore both famous attractions and hidden gems in the most popular destinations in Thailand - Bangkok, Krabi, Koh Samui, Chiang Mai and Phuket. 
          “These winning results will also be published across our sites in Asia Pacific, Europe and America, which we hope will continue to promote Thailand’s most fascinating and charming destinations as voted by the people of Thailand,” said Mr. Jeremy Bek, Skyscanner’s Head of Country Marketing – APAC.
          “Based on the regular results of our travel search data and our annual Travel Trends Report, we know that Thailand is and remains to be one of the most popular global travel destinations year on year, and it’s clear why – the friendliness of Thai people and the uniqueness of Thai culture coupled with the unbeatable combination of great shopping and delicious food means Thailand’s charming destinations continue to draw in tourists from all corners of the globe,” he said.
          In addition, the event also announces winners from the vote activity. Prizes are luxurious travel packages including a return trip for two people to Koh Samui with Bangkok Airways and a two-night stay at Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa; or a two night weekend stay for two persons at JW Marriott Hotel, Bangkok or JW Marriott, Khao Lak Resort & Spa.
          Another prizes go to people who shared the campaign on Facebook with the hash tags #เสน่ห์เมืองยิ้ม and #SkyscannerThailand, winning 2 return air tickets from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. Announcement of the four winners will also be made through Skyscanner’s website and Facebook page.
